Kent Yogipranajaya
Kent was a student from Bandung pursuing his Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing. He graduated in 2018 and now working full-time in one of New Zealand’s government agencies. Why choose New Zealand and why Nelson? Most Indonesian students would choose Auckland, Wellington, or Christchurch. This is his story.
Why New Zealand?
Honestly, I am a big fan of The Lord of The Rings and that is the only reason why I chose New Zealand over other countries.
Why Nelson?
I wanted to study in a smaller city and live with locals to get to know the New Zealand culture and to improve my English. The staff at NMIT were really friendly and helpful and guided me through my studies.
People in New Zealand are really friendly and open-minded. Traveling around the beautiful region is very easy as there is not a lot of traffic. Nelson has been a good base for me to travel around the rest of New Zealand as well as it is situated centrally and you can reach both islands easily.
Even though Nelson is a smaller city than where I am from, I have met people from all around the world and made some very good friends. By meeting a lot of people from all around the world, Nelson has broadened my perspective on life.
Would you recommend Nelson to your friends and family?
100%! Even though I am now working in Auckland, Nelson always has a special place in my heart and when the time comes, that will be my second option after Bandung my hometown to retire.
